Floorball tournament held under UV lights
On the final day of the university term, Warwick Floorball Club and Warwick Sport hosted a groundbreaking new event: UV floorball.
A fine turnout consisting of seven teams made their way to the Desso Hall on Friday 6 December to take part in possibly the first ever floorball session to take place under ultraviolet lights.
In preparation for the event, the sticks, goals, goalkeeper helmets and walls were covered with bright tape to make them more visible, while the balls were sprayed with paint.
Nevertheless, the biggest obstacle was the visibility of the ball, which proved to be a great leveller as every match was very keenly and very evenly contested.
The session took the format of a mini-tournament, with the seven teams doing battle in two different groups, followed by a semi-final and a final. The final itself went all the way to penalties, as Mixed Hockey and Just Stoke played out a 1-1 draw, before the latter emerged victorious.
The club would like to congratulate all the teams who took part and helped to make the whole afternoon a thoroughly enjoyable affair. Thanks must also go to Matts North and Sellars for doing (the majority of) the refereeing.
Finally, we would also like to thank Warwick Sport for their co-operation in organising such a great, open event.
